He had just received the email; his stomach clenched. The article, the one about the impact of climate change on local wildlife, was finally published. He was excited, or at least he *had been.* The name on the published article, though, was not his. He slowly closed his laptop, and the screen went dark.

He felt… empty. All the research, the interviews, the late nights spent crafting each sentence, all for nothing.

The air felt heavy in the small apartment, difficult to breathe. He wanted to sleep. A long, deep, uninterrupted sleep.
